Lesser Spotted Woodpecker

Lesser Spotted Woodpecker is one of the scarcest species on the U.K. breeding list.

Finding and monitoring nationally is being led by Ken and Linda Smith of The Woodpecker Network.

Locally Durham Bird Club is making a special effort in 2022 to try to locate the species, particularly in sites where it has been recorded in the past. Full details of this survey are available here.
